Cuba stands pummeled by an unworkable socialism and a voracious consumer appetite. What began more than 46 years ago seems spent, "patriotism or death" are simply not enough. Cubans want other choices, other points of view, and they can't wait any longer. BYE BYE HAVANA serves as a crystal-clear window into a crumbling world.

The Director
New to the craft of documentary filmmaking, J. Michael Seyfert has been a true vagabond commuting between journalism and the creative arts all of his life. BYE BYE HAVANA is his first feature documentary. He has just finished his second film “WAORANI, the last of the rain forest people” in the Ecuadorian Amazon. As a multi-linguist in a multi-cultural world, Seyfert displays an uncanny sensitivity by spotlighting rather serious subjects without relying on old standards of filmmaking.
